There is a commonly-held belief that golf is a pastime and sport of entrepreneurs and businessmen. It also has the reputation of being exclusive and elite and not being accessible to ordinary blue collared workers. However, this is not really true, since modernization and commercialization have brought this so-called elite sport into the realm of normal people.
This is because you don’t need to get hold of expensive equipment to join in. Unlike big game fishing and polo which need a lot of resources – a boat or a horse respectively – golfers just require a set of golf clubs, which are reasonably affordable these days. Bearing this in mind, retirement gifts for golfers and aspiring ones are more easily thought of.
Personally made retirement gifts to personalize golfing equipment is quite an easy task as you could easily make it personal by embroidering such items as home made golf club pouches, and caddy covers. These can be knitted that is if you are into knitting or any similar craft which may require different materials.
If you’re not already bipolar, the game of golf can make you that way. One moment you’re in awe of how well you hit your last shot and the next you’re pulling your hair out because you sliced your next drive. Mix patience together with a sound swing, they produce results that will take you a long way. The premise of the game is rather rudimentary, hit a golf sized ball as hard as you can into a hole on the other side of the golf course. Well, it’s easier said than can be reasonably done. Countless weekend golfers have succumbed to waves of frustration due to this game. It’s not really all doom and gloom.
Keeping it Plain and Simple, Just Keep Practicing
Golf is a game of consistency. Hitting the ball the same way, given a specific situation, is key to achieving good scores. Problems such as short drive distance, slicing, hooking and other golfing ailments are caused by a lack of consistency. Learning how to properly swing a golf club ought to be simple enough as long as you learn how to do it right from the start and practice.
The amount of people who are choosing to purchase golf GPS units are rising constantly, this is why I wish to let you know about how they can help you get ahead of the game you love. You will also be able to decide which will be the best for you out of the many that are available and see the reasons why they have risen so dramatically in popularity over the past few years.
The golf GPS units work in the same way as the kind of GPS you may use on your automobile or any kind of tracking device. They use the advanced satellite technology to let you know exactly where you are on the course and of course what is around you so that you can calculate your next swing.
Some of the units are able to show you what hazards are around you, such as high ground, sand and lakes which means that you are less likely to lose your ball. This can be beneficial and means that you are able to have an advantage over others you are playing without breaking any rules.
The first step for a student in any golf swing lesson, should be to understand the two key principles to a great swing technique. These are namely rhythm and balance. These must be mastered in order to take your game to the next level of proficiency. When you have full control of both of these, your consistency and confidence will grow in leaps and bounds. Rhythm, in the context of golf swing techniques, is the the ability to repeat the same movement on a consistent basis and with the same speed. Balance with regards to golf swing, is the ability to maintain stability through every stage of the stroke from the teeing up stage to completion.
A useful tip is to watch professional players as much as possible, to see how they develop their own golf swing techniques. More often than not, they will go through a sequence of steps each time that will get them into the correct frame of mind for the shot. Balance and poise starts in the mind and picturing the perfect shot is an often used technique by sports psychologists. This can help the student to visualise the shot even before they approach the actual ’set-up’ for the shot.
How we play golf has changed and a lot of that change has to do with the equipment we use. The irons we carry have changed, as most iron manufacturing companies now sell sets that start with the 4 or even 5-irons in answer to the most iron sets now start at the 4 or even 5 irons in acknowledgment of the increasing popularity of hybrid golf clubs amongst most players. It stands to reason, as for most club players hybrids are far easier to hit than the irons.
The USGA and the R…A enforce a limit on the volume of driver heads. For conforming drivers that limit is 460 cc and most club golfers would do well to play to that limit. If your driving is unpredictable, moving to a larger sized driver will in all probability help. High MOI and more even weight distribution makes modern drivers far more forgiving, even on bad swings. Playing a bigger driver means less loss of distance and accuracy on miss-hits.

One of the first things my golf coach taught me was where to position the ball in my stance for taking shots. To non-golfers, this might seem an unimportant part of the game, but all of us who play will realise there are significant differences between ball positions.
Standing side-on to the direction you’ll be aiming, there are two main elements to consider. The first is how far away the ball is from you if you drew a line directly away from your eyes (ie perpendicular to the direction of the shot). The second is the distance of the ball on the ground from each foot.
First things first. How far away from you should the ball be? Essentially, you want to position the ball on the ground at the exact distance from you that your club head will reach in your normal stance, at the point of impact on the ball in your swing.
That is to say, with you stood in your normal stance, legs apart, hold the club as normal and put the head of the club onto the ground, at the point where you would be in your swing when you strike the ball. The club will be at a right angle to the direction you wish the shot to go, with the club head at the right point for impact.
A entire bag filled with golf clubs, is that not too many golf clubs for one golf game? The answer is in fact no, the reason there are so many different golf clubs is that each golf club is specifically developed to play a specific shot and each club will at least be used one time through out an 18 hole golf course. Here is a slight introduction to all the golf clubs.
A set of golf clubs are made up of woods, irons and putters. That is also commonly in the order that they will be played in. The wood being the most powerful golf club for this reason it is used to tee off from the beginning as the ball will travel the greatest distance once struck well by the wood golf club.
Once the golf ball has been teed off it will then be between the tee and the green, this will then be time to start using your irons. Your irons are numbered according to the degree angle of the golf club blade. The lower the number on the golf club the further you intend the golf ball to travel. This is typically worked out depending on the distance you are away from the hole.
Having played golf for a number of years and getting down to a single digit handicap, one area of golf that eluded me for many years is the Pre shot routine. This is one area that we can control as amateurs as well perhaps as the professionals. Practicing the routine every single time you hit a shot, whether in practice or on the course can be done by everyone but it does take practice
The first part of the process is deciding on which sort of shot you are going to hit. Take account of the lie of the ball, the intended target area, the climactic conditions, etc. Wind is often the biggest factor that will make a difference to the ball flight. The professional golfer is meticulous when looking at wind strength and direction and so should we be
Visualising and committing to a golf shot is absolutely vital. Some people actually see the result of the shot in their heads, some people (myself included) feel that the ball will go to the intended target. It does not matter whether you can actually see the shot in your mind, what matters is that you absolutely believe that the ball will go to the target using the club that you have selected
