Tip#1: Backswing

One thing you should practice is getting the clubhead in the correct position on the backswing. For instance, once you reach the halfway position within the backswing your clubface should be vertical and the toe of the club should be pointing to the sky. Also, the shaft of the club should be pointing towards the ball. If all of these things line up you can be certain that you are holding the club in the correct position. This may take a while to get used to but practice makes perfect. Try it a few times until you can do it without thinking about it.

How To Cure That Golf Banana Ball in 4 Easy Steps

Post date: November 22, 2009

Today’s lesson will teach us “How To Cure a Golf Hook in 4 Easy Steps”. If you have been struggling with a golf hook you know how annoying they are. More than likely, most of your friends are slicing the ball, (which really isn’t any better) and your game is played on the opposite side of the fairway from theirs.

The good news is that the golf hook is not difficult to cure. Implement these 4 golf tips and your golf hook will be cured in no time. In order to correct the golf hook you need to make sure you swing the club from the outside in.

1. Weaken your Grip – You could be playing with a grip that is too strong. Simply rotate both hands around the grip and towards the target. This will make it much harder for the clubface to close through the impact zone. Don’t over do it, and like everything else, testing is crucial. Make sure to test this, before moving on, unless you are positive that you already play with a weak grip.

How To Cure Your Fat Golf Shot and Hit The Ball Solid Everytime

Posted in Golf
Post date: November 21, 2009

Curing your fat golf shot is not a tough as you may think. It’s usually a pretty easy fix actually. The primary cause of the fat golf shot is letting the back shoulder dip towards the ground during the swing. You may not realize it right now, but more often than not, this is what is happening. This shoulder dip causes the club head to hit behind the ball and results in a chunked shot. This often happens when you are really trying to lay into the ball to get that extra distance.

Alright, grab a club and let’s demonstrate what is happening. Perform your normal backswing but hold the club at the top. When a golfer tries to gain extra distance he will tend to move his hips horizontally towards the ball to gain momentum. This will also cause the back shoulder to dip and results in a fat golf shot.

Ok, so we know what causes our fat golf shots. Now what can we do to correct it? The key to correcting the fat golf shot is keeping our hips very still so they do not move horizontally and not letting our back shoulder dip down. If you are looking for some extra power in your shot, try to generate it from your arms and torso rather than the hips.

What is the Difference Between The One Plane Golf Swing and The Two Plane Golf Swing?

Posted in Golf
Post date: November 15, 2009

There has been a lot of talk lately about the one plane and two plane golf swings. With so much information out there it is easy for the average golfer to get confused. One professional tells you to do something one way and somebody else tells you to swing another way. So which person is right? Well, actually they both are probably correct. That can be the confusing thing about golf. There is more than one way to swing a club. However, what we need to figure out is which instruction is correct for YOUR swing. So, let’s get started…

— The One Plane vs. Two Plane Golf Swing —

There is a big debate going around trying to determine which swing is better the one plane or two plane. This argument will probably never come to a specific answer because there are professional golfers that use each type.

For example, some of the one plane golfers include: Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Chad Campbell and Scott McCarron. These golfers swing their club around their bodies on a more flat plane which helps them keep their shoulders in line at the top of the swing.

The biomechanics of a golf swing is a very hot subject within the golf industry. There are countless books that have been written about it. These books break down every little detail of the golf swing step by step. This could be a good thing but these books are so boring that reading them can put you to sleep fast.

If you are reading this, then more than likely there is something wrong with your swing. Why else would you search for the “biomechanics of a golf swing” on the web? Trying to figure out what is wrong with your mechanics can be a tough task. Are you slicing the ball, hooking, hitting behind it, or topping it? All of these things can be detrimental to your game. The good news is I can help you out.

The Problem With Most Biomechanic Golf Books

I have a real problem with most golf books out there. Most of these books are looking at a pro such as Tiger Woods and breaking down his swing step by step. So, why is this a problem? Don’t I want to be able to swing a club like Tiger?

Golf Swing Tips – How To Rotate Your Hands Through The Ball At Impact

Getting into the perfect position at the point of impact is a very important step within the golf swing. The angle of the club face will determine whether you hit the ball straight or in some other direction that you don’t want it to go. Now grab a club and swing it as you normally would. Pay attention to the position of your hands and forearms at the point of impact. This is what we are going to focus on.

While you are swinging try to keep your wrists straight and locked. Do not let them bend to the left or right at impact, this is known as a “wrist break” and it will have a bad effect on your golf shot. What we want to do is “flip” the hands through the ball at impact. The exercise that I have below will help you learn this simple technique…
